Sunday Scoop {1/11/15}

The Sunday Scoop is based on the popular 3-2-1 graphic organizers so many of us use with our students. Tell us three things you HAVE to do, two things you HOPE to do, and one thing you're HAPPY to do (because these days, we could all use a little motivation to find something to be happy about every week!). It's a short and sweet way to connect with each other every Sunday (or Monday... the linky will stay open all week!)
Here's what to do:
1. Just save the image above, add your text to it (we use PowerPoint), and post! You don't even have to explain yourself any further if you don't want to.
2. Include the button above and a link to our  blog on your post.
3. Link our post up here on Sunday morning (or whenever :) )
4. Be a good blog reader, and leave some love for the two posts before yours!

Here's the Scoop on my week...
I am so excited about my newest STEM challenge that my class will be doing on Monday/Tuesday. I don't want to give away any details... but they are in for a "gross" time. :)

For some odd reason, I think I have to recreate the wheel when it comes to our unit math assessments. I don't like the way questions are asked and often times there are skills assessed that I haven't even taught yet! So, I use the same numbers and recreate the test... it is very time consuming. But, I just keep telling myself that if I do it this year, I won't have to do it next year. I always put on some good chick flicks while I am creating... and the husband is at work of course. Any recommendations?

Yeah... conferences are two weeks away for us. It is the earliest we have ever had our last set of conferences... and I am not thrilled about it. A little shopping therapy is needed!

  1. Hi Cassie!
    Chick flicks sound like a fun way to spend the afternoon while working on your math assessments. My favorites are The Proposal, Perfect Pitch, If I Stay, Blue Crush, Bring it On, just to name a few... What are yours? I'm always looking for new ones when my husband goes to bed early and I have an evening to myself. Happy Sunday!

  3. I'd second Bring it On and then recommend Clueless (a forever favorite), one of my all-time favorites, Cruel Intentions.How many conferences do you have each year? We only have one in November, but I have worked at schools that did fall and spring ones.

    Thanks so much for the linky!

  4. Ah you can't get better than a good chick flick- totally second all of the ones previously mentioned but I love 'The Sweetest Thing' and you can't beat Beaches or Stepmom for a good sob! Looking forward to hearing about your STEM challenge- my kids love making a mess and the grosser the better!

  6. Another round of conferences already! That does seem a little early! But at least it's a reason to go shop! And yes that STEM challenge sounds interesting!

  7. I do the same thing when I am creating assessments. I have the ones that come with the text, but I ALWAYS have to recreate and change them some. On the chick flicks recommendation, I just watch "The Other Woman" and it was GREAT. Have a great week and thanks for this fun linky!
