February Currently...a little late as usual!

I'm linking up with Farley for her February Currently - and I'm late to the party as usual. (I don't know how you all manage to get things posted right on time!) I really do look forward to Currently every month and seeing what all of you are up to. Here's what's going on in my world:

Listening - I ran across The Piano guys over Christmas when this YouTube video of "Angels We Have Heard on High" was all over Facebook, and I *big puffy heart* them. They are amazingly talented, and their music makes great work/grad school music. What they do with one piano amazes me! Since it's not Christmas anymore, I'll share their version of "What Makes You Beautiful" in case you've never seen one of their videos:

Loving - Even though I am seriously feeling the testing pressure (ours is the last week of this month), I was thrilled to get the call this morning that we have a *very* rare snow day today. First - I live in the south, so snow just doesn't happen all that often. Second - I teach on an Army post, so cancelling school would "interfere with the mission," which means it hardly ever happens. Anyway, we didn't get that much snow last night, but apparently it's really icy on post, so I'm at home enjoying a day off!

Thinking - I've shared before that my teammate and I decided to dive headfirst into the flipped classroom concept for Math this year, and we both love it more than I can express! I'm thinking of doing a series in the near future. If you have questions you'd like answered, lay them on me, and I'll do my best!

Wanting - It's cold outside and there's a fire going...what more can I say?

Needing - Yeah. I admitted it. It's Monday, and I was supposed to be working today, but I went to bed last night without completed lesson plans. See...what had happened was... I decided to finish up my plans during the Super Bowl last night, since we were staying home to watch it. Right as the halftime show started, our power went out. And stayed out. Until about 2 am. My plans are all there in my head, I just need to spend a little time on Planbook.com getting them together. That's what I'm supposed to be doing right now...oops!

2 Truths & a Lie -
1. What can I say, I grew up on the water. My mom and dad had me in the edge of the lake on trainer skis at the beginning of the summer before I turned 3, and behind the boat by the end. Here's a picture to prove it:

2. Not even close. But I did pass the 100 follower mark this past week! Keep an eye out for a giveaway this coming weekend to celebrate!
3. I really do LOVE cooking, when it's for something special or when I have tons of time. But when it comes to the everyday routine of getting home and throwing something together before Little Man gets cranky because he hasn't eaten, my motivation flies right out the window! I really need to look into freezer meals or something that might make it easier to get done after work.

That's it for now. Head over to Farley's linky to see what everyone else is up to this month!

  1. Hi, Kristen,
I'm home on a snow day today too! I'm starting to feel a little guilty though. I live in the northeast so we've been walloped by a ton of snow this winter season. That means lots of snow days and school delays. Honestly, it's a rarity these days to work a full week of school. I first learned about the Piano Guys on one of the morning shows over Christmas break. They are pretty awesome. I've never seen such creative music making. Simply awesome. Well, enjoy your day off and don't feel guilty about not having your plans done. It was Superbowl weekend for pete's sake. :-). I'm sure you'll carve out some time before tomorrow to get them done.
